New Band

Postby mhate on Fri Feb 05, 2010 12:54 pm

Well, I may be starting a new band. Tentatively this will be a 2 piece all instrumental all original band consisting of myself on guitars and former Pain Factor drummer Rob on drums. Will be incorporating a lot of different styles in our music from jazz/blues/classical....to straight up rock n' roll/punk/hardcore/progressive/death/thrash/groove metal. Been wanting to do something like this for quite some time and now the opportunity may be here. Some of my favorite instrumental groups have been Dysrhythmia, Hematovore, Saragashum, Return To Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra,Apocalyptica, Pelican, Red Sparowes, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, The Ventures, Weather Report,(that's just a small list of bands without singers) etc.... so it may be a much simpler less technical type band taking a lot of influence from those groups as well as tons of musicians and bands that have singers(just taking the musical influence from them). We'll see, I'll keep you posted. If this works out, we hope to start gigging around a little bit by mid to late spring.

Sorry JH, we won't sound like Return To Forever because we're not really doing that particular style, and we're just a two piece...guitar and drums. But they are definitely an influence as far as my writing style is concerned...and so are all the other instrumental bands I listed as well as musically bands like King's X, Queens of The Stone Age, Black Sabbath, Pantera, and tons more. We're not really sticking to one style, we're just mixing a lot of different styles into our songs and seeing what happens. We just started practicing, but hopefully we should have about 10 songs ready to play out live in 2 or 3 months. Dave, I'll definitely keep you posted. Thanks(and if anybodie's band on here needs an opening act just hit me up).

We now have a myspace site. It's http://www.myspace.com/hellcamino1
So please check it out and add us as a friend. Their isn't much to the myspace site yet, but I'll be adding stuff every day until it's complete with more pics, and a better layout. And hopefully we'll be recording a little 2 song demo with Dave Stanley either late March or early April and get some tunes up on the page. Hellcamino is official now!

Thanks guys, hope our music can live up to the name....haha. Feel free to add us on our myspace page, and like I said hopefully we'll have some pics up on the site and a cooler background in the next week or two, and songs to follow by sometime in april. And any bands that want another band to play a gig with around town hit us up. We should have a good 10 to 12 songs ready by next month. Thanks again!!

Alright, got some new pics up. We have actually changed from an instrumental band to a band with vocals. I'm doing vocal duties, and it's weird not screaming or growling for a change. We've got 6 original songs so far and they range from blues to old rock to metal, and we're working on 3 covers, I'll just say one by Slayer, one by the Beatles and one by The Scream. Two of which most people have probably never heard. Couple of our song titles so far are "Chicken N' Dumplins" and "13"

We've got 6 originals down pretty tight now. Possible covers at the moment are the beatles, the scream, howlin' wolf, beastie boys, metallica, slayer, led zeppelin, and a song that Tony Iommi,Dave Grohl, and Brian May did together. Nothing's set in stone, but we're working on stuff. So we may have a good mixture of original material and some cover songs by our first gig which will hopefully be sometime in May.
