GHMC... anyone know anything about these guys?

first off whose more of a douche? the ones wanting to do a "expose" and keep an eye on an organization thats trying to bring a little more variety of music and entertainment to huntsville or the person that let them know that theyre gonna have someone try to do the "expose" on them because of what theyre trying to do?
some of you people on here think you know what everyone in huntsville wants to hear and whats best for them, you think everyone should have your taste in music and if they dont then theres no place for it in huntsville.
who care if they get lady gaga here? im not a lady gaga fan either but if they get her here i know of plenty of people that would go see her, not me but i know people that would.
so what if theyre putting together a electronica music festival at uah, why does that bother you? again its not something i would attend but im sure theres lots of people that would welcome that type of event, just because you and i wouldnt attend doesent mean it will be a failure, the events in huntsville doesent depend on a small amount of people like you and me to be a success, it depends on the people that like that type of stuff and just because we dont like it doesent mean theres lots of people out there that does.
i welcome the GHMC to come in and bring in different types of entertainment events because as it is right now in huntsville there is nothing here, you have to drive to other big cities for anything good, hell look at bonaroo, not something i would go to because i dont wanna be around a bunch of dirty smelly hippies for 3 days straight, but still it had to start somehow and manchester tn is way smaller than huntsville and bonaroo has been successful for several years now.
so what is the problem yall have with GHMC? is it that someone other than you might be able to bring in someone that people want to see and there will be more than 30 people there? maybe its that the artist they bring in might be a little bigger and more successful than your favorite underground no one but 20 people in huntsville has ever heard of artist and the venue might be a little bigger than the flying monkey?
are yall afraid that they might be the ones that does happen to bring in someone you like and your band isnt invited to open for them? what is the problem?
and yes i do believe some of yall feel threatened by the GHMC or else there wouldnt have been a thread started on them questioning their intent and a comment made about doin a "expose" on them. most of you always seem to be negative about anything or anyone that doesent have your way of thinking and you dont welcome them but you know what? the GHMC doesent need your approval to do what theyre gonna do, they dont need my approval either but i will support what theyre trying to do. you would think that someone coming in and trying to make a difference in the huntsville music and entertainment scene would be welcome and supported but leave it up to people on the abbey to bring the negativity out and try to find somehing wrong with them. . .

Hmmmm... While we all know this to be true, GHMC seems to be out to change that. They may not know what they're up against but that doesn't mean they won't have some success. I mean, ya gotta start somewhere, right?

and mk were not playing at olivias saturday night, they dont have bands on saturday, it was friday night but we canceled right after our last show there and i couldnt give a fuck if you came or not, our existence doesent depend on you or anyone on here supporting us

I was wondering same thing, but after rereading the posts, I don't think anyone really has a problem with GHMC.
Why would we NOT want a group to bring in cooler acts to Huntsville? It's not like any of us would loose any money.... We have everything to gain from GHMC and no risk.

Well, spambots are to blame for that. Somehow we've gotten on someone's list of favorite sites to fuck with or something, because despite security measures, etc., the last time I opened up the board for five minutes to register someone, we got flooded with spambot registrations. So, yeah. It's not easy to join. And I hate that. And I am going to try to do something about it as we're hopefully going to have a bunch of new members soon.

As far as the exposé comment goes, I would like someone here to do an investigative piece on them for the upcoming launch of The Abbey magazine. And that's all I meant. Because none of us knows who the fuck they are. Or why they are doing what they are doing. So, unless they are some shadowy organization bent on sheer evil (which I doubt) it would get them press. And possibly backing/help/community support. And it would be a fair and balanced piece, not some smear job. The only thing "exposed" would be the group and their goals. I don't have a problem with this group. I don't care if they are seeking to bring dwarven polka kings and lesbian square dance callers or Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. If they are pro-entertainment, pro-nightlife, pro-something to fucking do in Huntsville, I have no real problem with it. I may not like every artist they choose, but I don't have to. This is Amurica, gawddammit!

That would be you. You're the douche, Krys, because instead of mayyyyybe, I don't know, taking a comment said on a mostly private message board by an ostensible friend/friendly acquaintance of many years and a former bandmate/colleague in the Huntsville music scene for many years with a grain of salt or benefit of doubt or god forfuckingbid asking what I meant, you pop over to a facebook page of complete strangers and "warn" them that your imaginary clique is out to get them because of a recent internet argument on this message board which didn't go your way? THAT's amping up the whiny douchitude, pal, if for no other reason that it's going to make them wary of talking to me or anyone here for a story that explains their fucking viewpoint, gets them more press, and more than likely puts to rest any and all fears about who they are and what they are doing.

And maybe I chose the wrong word. Exposé does usually carry a connotation of watchdog journalism. But, considering no one in the music scene seems to know who they are or what they are doing outside of a few facebook posts, there would definitely be something EXPOSED in the strictest sense of the term by telling a story about who they are and what they are doing. But I'm not "out to get" anyone. By the same token, if someone wants to write an op/ed piece saying why they THINK it's a bad idea or a good idea, I'd certainly welcome both.

I think I've always been pretty fair on here. I'm all about fairness. And mostly, over the years we've been here, I ignored the flame wars with you at their center because I didn't like to get involved or let my opinions be known. Recently, though, the clique thing and the negativity just wore me down and I said something, because I felt it was an attack on this community. And I resent that a little bit, because I think this is a great place where anyone can post their ideas, liberal or conservative or whacked out or whatever. People are rarely censored. People are never banned or sent to time out. If someone says something unpopular, people jump on them. It is what it is. I hate that you apparently got your feelings hurt in that last squabble ... of course, the double standard of the "Internet's Biggest Asshole" or whatever your sig used to say, getting his feelings hurt (dishing out but not taking, etc.) is kind of what dragged me into the whole thing to begin with.

Anyway, I'm rambling. The point is, yeah. You turning on this community is douchey, because you're a part of this community and always have been. I've always liked you being here and being a part. Even when I didn't agree with you. Because this IS one of the few boards I've ever been on where people can curse and argue and do whatever and still be friends/colleagues. And aside from that, I know most of it is internet bullshit, because I know you to be a fantastic, friendly person in real life, just like everyone else I know on this board. Anyway, whatever. If you're so "done" with us, maybe those folks will form a message board where you can go troll and lash out at all the members for not supporting you and bash for being jukebox cover bands and such ... with complete impunity and lack of censorship like you have here.

Am I a member of this "clique"? If so, then why am I not playing every club in Hville and getting paid a grand each nite? No one on here decides what music should be played and where a band plays. The crowd in the bar is the one who decides what type of music they want to hear.
